Happy New Year!

By Chris Tomlinson, MBA, CRA, FAHRA
While the New Year brings a sense of renewal and a chance to address the things we have been putting off, it also affords us the opportunity to refocus our efforts at work. It’s a chance to make a new start and I encourage us all to embrace the opportunity and roll out a new patient facing program or employee recognition program for the new year.

When we think about Thanksgiving and Giving Tuesday, it’s important to think about how fortunate we are as leaders and to reflect on those individuals who helped us along our journey. Too often we are focused on our next goal or accomplishment. Sometimes we need to reflect and thank our teams and those who mentored and helped us along the way.

As we move into fall, the AHRA is hard at work on a number of fronts. Our newly created Diversity and Inclusion Task Force has kicked off under the leadership of Angie Bush and Ernie Cerdena. Jacqui Rose (President-Elect) is leading a team that is working diligently to align our policies and procedures manual and make needed updates.

Truly a Family

I wanted to update everyone on some exciting changes within the AHRA. This year is a strategic planning year which allows us to look at what we are doing well and where we need to focus going forward. We have surveyed our members, convened focus groups as well as listened to our partners. We want to ensure we remain relevant and provide the quality content and programming members expect from the AHRA.

The selection committee, led by AHRA Board Member Rick Perez, did an excellent job vetting search firms and candidates to find our new leader.
