The CRA — Is It In Your Future?
Career Journey The CRA — Is It In Your Future? July 24, 2024 - Kim Evans, FAHRA, CRA
Share this story:

Since 2002, radiology administrators and medical imaging managers have sought to add the prestigious Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) credential to their accomplishments. Since its inception, more than 1,300 imaging leaders have earned their CRA. Today, the total number of active CRAs remains near 1,200.

There are many exciting projects in progress as the Radiology Accreditation Certification Commission (RACC) continues to increase awareness across our industry on the value and benefit of the CRA. In the past several months, we have produced a promotional video for CLIMB and joined Collaboration RA for a podcast, further explaining the CRA and its benefits to imaging leaders and their organizations.

The RACC is tracking progress on its six goals through 2024, including work on a job task analysis to represent current expectations of an imaging administrator, evaluation of attrition rates, and encouraging and promoting the CRA. Additional goals include providing content on the CRA for publication in our AHRA resources (LINK and Radiology Management), reviewing and revising RACC Policies and Procedures, and conducting an analysis on potential advantages of recognition through additional credentialing agencies. The work we do serves the purpose of driving awareness of the CRA and adding value to the program, your career, and your organization. We want your CRA to work for you!

During the AHRA 2024 Annual Meeting, held in Orlando, there will be plenty of opportunities to learn more about the CRA. A panel discussion will be held on Tuesday, August 6, during which RACC commissioners and peer CRAs will answer FAQ-type requests. Commissioners will also be available at the CRA booth in the Gathering Place (aka Exhibit Hall). Stop by Booth 828 for more information and say hello. Also held on-site in Orlando will be the in-person CRA Exam Workshop, led by many outstanding and well-respected industry leaders. Our CRA reception will be held Monday, August 5 at 6:30 PM EDT. We will look for you there!

There are so many opportunities to learn about the CRA and to determine if adding this valuable credential is right for you. We can’t wait to see you in Orlando to continue the conversation!
