As we approach Rad Tech Week, taking place November 3-9, I am filled with excitement and pride for our incredible community of imaging professionals. Since Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen’s groundbreaking discovery of the X-ray in 1895, our profession has grown exponentially. From the early days of simple X-ray imaging to today’s advanced modalities like MRI, CT, and ultrasound, imaging technologists have become indispensable to modern healthcare. Our roles are critical in diagnosing and treating countless conditions, ensuring patients receive the best possible care.

So, what’s new this year? Earlier this month we reintroduced our AHRA store, just in time for our community to celebrate with some swag! From stylish apparel to practical accessories, there’s something for everyone. In addition to our swag, AHRA will promote membership and online store discounts, and ways to recognize the week. We’ll be celebrating together on social media with opportunities to share your stories. Be sure to tag us and use our hashtag #RTW2024 so we can amplify your celebrations! We encourage you to share your celebrations, whether it’s a special event at your workplace, a shout-out to a colleague, or a personal reflection on what being an imaging technologist means to you.

Rad Tech Week is not just about celebration; it’s also a time for reflection. Our community is built on the values of professionalism, teamwork, and continuous learning. As we celebrate, let’s also take a moment to appreciate the impact we have on patient care and the healthcare system as a whole. Almost every single patient that walks through the doors of our institutions has some type of Imaging need — meaning WE are critical to almost every patient’s diagnosis and treatment.

This year, we are proud to incorporate the themes of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists’ (ASRT’s) Be Seen campaign, which aims to elevate imaging technologists as professionals. The campaign seeks to raise public awareness and visibility of medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals and the crucial role they play in patient diagnosis, intervention, and treatment. Let’s use this opportunity to highlight the critical role we play in healthcare and to advocate for the recognition and respect we deserve.

Thank you for your continued dedication and passion. I look forward to celebrating Rad Tech Week with all of you!

Warm regards,
