Change is Necessary!

Change is scary, but it is often necessary for growth!  I have shared with you my various personal changes over the past year, including packing up our car, driving to Florida, moving into a new home (sight unseen), and then starting my new job after being at my prior job for 33 years.  Yes, those changes were very scary, but they brought about wonderful, new beginnings!  The next “new beginning” is near.  My husband and I just listed to sell our home in West Virginia.  (Please keep in mind that this is the home that we raised our children, gathered for every holiday, and shared many lifelong memories over the past 29 years.)  While I am sad about selling our home (it went under contract just two days after listing it), I also recognize that our memories will not be gone just because that house is no longer ours.  We will always be a family, even though we live in a different location. I am really looking forward to finding our next home to buy to call our own.

The AHRA will also experience new beginnings soon.  In July at the end of our AHRA Annual meeting, Becky Allen will move into the president role; Mario Pistilli will move into the president-elect role, and I will move into the past-president role. The AHRA will still remain the strong organization that it has been for the past 50 years, even thought things are changing.  New beginnings are good!  They are natural occurrences within our world to phase in “new life”.  If I have learned one thing over the past few years, it is to enjoy the season that you are currently in, yet look forward to new beginnings!

As imaging leaders, one way for us to experience “new beginnings” is to attend the 2023 AHRA Annual meeting!  You may hear a presentation that sparks “rebirth” within yourself!  I will never forget a Lean Six Sigma presentation that one of our past presidents gave, sharing how she had to relearn leading her team based on new Lean philosophies.  (She embraced the new “lean” culture, and exceeded all expectations by doing so.  It was not easy for her, but it was necessary for success.)  I love hearing heartfelt messages, missed opportunities, and growth experiences, all shared by imaging experts and guest speakers, as it is very inspiring.  Networking with leaders in our industry is also very rewarding to me, as I always meet someone who has “been there and done that”, shedding light on how to address an issue that I am experiencing in my work life.  I always return to my job after an AHRA Annual meeting feeling stronger, more connected, and energized! You don’t want to miss out on the 50th birthday meeting in Indy this July 9-12!  Please be sure to register now!

On another personal note, I am still maintaining a “better work-life balance”, “filling my cup with joy” by spending time in my “happy places” (beach, pool, with family), as well as being more physically active.  I can’t wait to see you all, my AHRA family, at the 2023 AHRA annual meeting!  If you have any questions, please reach out!  Brenda.DeBastiani@BraveraHealth.com
