Can you believe it’s mid-January already? Time flies when you are having fun! For many, January brings excitement for new beginnings and resolutions. Shortly into a new year though, many people are frustrated for quickly failing to meet their resolutions. My advice is to set a resolution that involves self-improvement over time. Come on, you can’t expect to meet your goals immediately! If you fail at first, just start the next day anew and try your best to do a little better than you did the day before. And if you fail again, give yourself a break. Bad habits can be hard to break! With focused energy, you can make self-improvements.
My New Year’s resolution is to continue focusing on self-care: 1) more time in my “happy places” -continuing to spend time with family and friends, at the beach or pool, etc., 2) more physical activity- continuing to work out, walk the dog, play pickleball and bocce ball, etc., and 3) continue with a better work-life balance. While I began working on self-care months ago, it is an ongoing process that I am not sure I will ever 100% master. When I stay late at work because my perfectionist self can’t stop working until the job is done, I have to give myself a break and just try to get out on time the next day. With focused energy, I am making self-improvements.
We are gearing up for AHRA CLIMB 2023 , to be held February 24-26, 2023, in sunny San Diego, CA. I am excited for the great speaker line-up and the energy that the AHRA Design Team are bringing to this meeting. This is a high-value, leadership-focused conference. If you have a new manager or supervisor, this meeting will lift their confidence by sharpening skills like trust-building with their team, hearing real-life solutions from experienced leaders, and more. If you are an experienced leader, this conference will definitely “charge you up” so that you return to work with new information and inspiration.
The 2023 AHRA Annual Meeting Design Team has been working hard to interview speakers and met this past weekend in person to finalize plans. How exciting!! The 2023 AHRA Annual Meeting will be held July 9-12, 2023 in Indianapolis, IN. Please register! You DO NOT want to miss this celebration of AHRA’s 50th year as an association. We’re planning a look back at how it all began 50 years ago, and would love you to join us in homage to AHRA’s past, including its founders and past presidents, and to help celebrate where we are today… while we look beyond, toward what meaningful innovations and changes may lie ahead for this esteemed profession of ours. It’s going to be very special. I can’t wait. I hope you can make it!
And last, but certainly not least, I’m happy to share the excellent news that Nancy Green, CAE, FASAE has been appointed by me and the AHRA Board of Directors as the Interim Chief Executive Officer of AHRA while the search for a permanent CEO is underway. Read the full statement and join me in a warm welcome to Nancy!
