Happy Nurse’s week, Happy Hospital week, Happy Mother’s Day and Congratulations to all our graduates this Spring!

Over the past few months, I have mentioned the Strategic Plan that was developed over 2020 and finalized in the first couple months of this year.  The development of this plan began in the Spring of 2020 and was immediately disrupted by COVID.  We forged ahead in late Spring with virtual sessions, which were good, but fell a little short on the energy and cohesiveness normally generated during this process.  In the Fall, the board felt the final product was a bit short of what we envisioned moving forward.  So, again, we delayed the final product, to revisit a few key areas and develop the plan more fully.  Finally, in January, we had a final plan and our Rock Star AHRA staff went into action to develop their details behind each priority.  Wow, the final very detailed product is extensive.  Each priority has an AHRA team mate assigned in conjunction with Board liaisons.  The team provides updates on these detailed plans regularly to the full board.  I am excited to share some details around this plan.

This infographic was created to provide a quick visual overview of the plan:AHRA_2021_Strategic_Objectives

All the priorities include an element of creative delivery, meaning we must look at everything we do in a new light around who it serves and how it is delivered.  There is also an element of inclusion in every priority to assure we are living up to our commitment and mission.  One of the overarching goals of mine is to improve our efforts around closing the loop and ensuring that all parts are working cohesively together.  This plan lays the groundwork for that by tying in all the committees, staff team mates and a board liaison.

The new Product and Services review committee will assure that we are creating and maintaining the optimal products and services for our members and that they remain financially viable while supporting the mission.  This committee will provide the ongoing framework for continual evaluation and re-creation of content.  The new Corporate Relations Committee will measure and enhance our existing partnerships, while opening new doors for new relationships that support the mission and strategic plan.  Finally, the new Leadership Development committee will pull together opportunities and resources that will provide development for our members interested in serving the association in support of the mission and strategic plan. So, hopefully you are seeing a trend, we tie it all back to the mission and plan in a more formal way than we have in the past to assure that it all moves in the same direction for a vibrant and solid association.

Finally, I have a call to action for all members!

  • Please send us some content for the Journal, we know you have great stuff you are working on and we want to help you shine.
  • Please VOTE – this is your voice for the direction you want your association to go, please let us hear your voice and vote.
