Get to Know Your AHRA Director Candidates: Part I

Posted by

Today we’re pleased to introduce you to Gregory Adamczak, and Tonya Bell Brighton, two of the four candidates running for the two open Director positions on the AHRA Board. In tomorrow’s LINK, you’ll meet your other Director candidates, Laurie Hitzel, and Mario Pistilli.  We’ll do a recap next week, and then… get ready to vote starting May 5th!

Gregory Adamczak became interested in Imaging technology when he worked in a support staff role registering patients for imaging exams. He became a diagnostic Radiologic Technologist before advancing into MRI. Greg was always interested in leadership and became a front-line supervisor of registration and billing. He attended his first AHRA Annual Conference a few years later and was immediately inspired to learn from others facing like-situations at different organizations. He has designed and implemented several processes and computer systems and has participated in LEAN Workflow changes. His role changed over the years as he advanced to an Associate Director overseeing Imaging Business Systems, Administration and Informatics.

Greg is an active AHRA member. He contributed to conference design committees and volunteered on the fundraising initiatives in the Education Foundation. He enjoys collaborating with other AHRA members via the blog or at conferences. Greg became a CRA in 2015. In his role as AHRA Director to the Board, he hopes to bring forward and raise awareness to issues that front-line workers and hospitals face. He also hopes to get his peers more involved with the organization and to better prepare for the future.

Gregory is a native to Los Angeles where he works at Cedars-Sinai. He earned a BS degree in Radiologic Technology and MS degree in Health Administration. He’s an active RT alumni member. In his spare time, Greg enjoys traveling to foreign towns and cities and appreciates making great memories getting lost and finding hidden gems “off the beaten path.” Greg volunteered on two medical missions in El Salvador and took a course in China learning their mixed delivery of eastern and western medicine. When not traveling, Greg enjoys spending time with his partner and their lab mix, appropriately named, London.

Tonya Bell Brightmon has been in the field of medical imaging for 30 years, and a member of AHRA since 2006. For nearly 18 years, Tonya has held operational leadership or administrator roles before moving into and working in the imaging education field for the past 8 years.

Tonya has been an active member of AHRA since joining in 2006 and has volunteered and served in multiple roles.  During her tenure with AHRA, Tonya has served on the Curriculum Committee, Product Development Team, Fall Design Team, Annual Meeting Design Team, assisted with coordinating AHRA local meetings for the Houston area. She has been a peer reviewer in the Asset Management and Financial Management textbooks, writer for the Convention Daily, Education Foundation volunteer, Expanding Excellence National Steering Committee member, and the recipient of the AHRA Annual Meeting Scholarship.

Tonya has a great deal of experience in Radiology operations and management, but also experience with Radiology education both for higher education and CEU courses and training.  In her current role, Tonya serves as the VP of Program and Partnership Development for The College of Health Care Professions and MTMI, placing a focus on imaging education and employer-sponsored partnerships and radiology training programs.  Tonya also serves as a member of the Texas Medical Board Medical Radiologic Technologist stakeholder committee representing The College of Health Care Professions.  Tonya is excited and humbled to be selected as a AHRA Board of Director nominee and would embrace the opportunity to represent the members, bringing new ideas to promote the growth of the organization, and furthering the organization to new heights.

Thank you for learning more about Gregory and Tonya, the AHRA Director to the Board candidates! Look for tomorrow’s LINK for the chance to “get to know” Laurie Hitzel, and Mario Pistilli. Voting will occur May 5-19, 2021.

  1. We have four outstanding candidates to choose from that will help to develop the present and enhance the future of the Association, as well as assist the design teams and conference managers in the educational content we make available to the membership through our Annual meetings, local meetings and other events. Please take a serious look at the candidates and see what they can bring to the table and to the board.
    Please VOTE. Make a difference.
Oh, and by the way…….Don’t forget to register for the Annual Conference in Nashville, Aug 1-4, 2021. I hope to see you there.
