Step Out of Your Comfort Zone!

Posted by

By Laurie Hitzel,

AHRA members, why should you share YOUR story?  Over the years, I had asked myself this many times as I watched so many fantastic speakers at the annual meetings.  Who would want to hear about anything that I had to say about leadership?  I mean, there are leaders that have been here longer than I have and younger leaders that certainly don’t want to hear about my story.  However, that is the farthest from the truth.  I was the one holding me back from speaking at the annual meeting and sharing knowledge and experiences that could help others grow just as well.

You see the Annual meeting IS the time to share your story with others just like you!  The people that are your family, who support you, and help you grow.

The opportunity to speak at the 2020 annual meeting (which became the virtual meeting) provided me a way that I was able to grow in a way that I never thought possible.  Because of the AHRA family, I found the strength inside to just do it!  Afterwards, I was surprised at the outpouring of AHRA peers that thanked me for my presentation.  I was delighted by their sincerity and I even thought, “wow I do have something to share that may help others succeed!”

So, get out of your comfort zone and sign up to present at the 2021 Annual Meeting.  You just never know who you will impact or how much you will grow in your own personal strength!

  1. This is so true! We all get in our own heads when in reality we all have something that can be learned and help others out.

Hope to see a lot of new presenters at #AHRA2021
