Knowing that #GivingTuesday was coming-up I wanted to write a Link article that would be meaningful for each of you. My thoughts came together this morning as I watched a live feed of a cancer series that I’ve been following. One of the panelists was David Avocado Wolfe, a specialist in living a healthy lifestyle. One of his “tidbits” of wisdom is to start everyday saying that today is “THE BEST DAY EVER!” Just think how powerful that is! Knowing that you’re going to do something today that will make an impact powerful enough to confirm you had “THE BEST DAY EVER” by the end of your day. That feeling that comes deep from within you that puts a smile on your face because you know you’ve made a difference in your life as well as someone else’s. Win-Win!
#GivingTuesday is described on www.givingtuesday.org as “a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world on December 3, 2019 and every day. It was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. One of the best ways to get involved is in your own community.”
The words “in your own community” nailed it for me. Our AHRA community is truly one of “giving.” We give our friendships, knowledge, experience, time and financial contributions; and so many of you have supported our 2019 Annual Appeal! I’d love to celebrate our year and give an opportunity for every AHRA member to participate as we wrap-up our 2019 campaign to raise funds for scholarships, dues waivers and educational opportunities for our members.
For #GivingTuesday, I’m hoping that you will have your “BEST DAY EVER” by deciding to give back to the AHRA Education Foundation (EF) with a moderate financial contribution. A $5, $10, $20 donation, or any amount that you are comfortable with, that will give you a warm fuzzy feeling. Can you imagine if every member donated $10.00? A $40 donation earns you a cool 2019 appeal pin that will be sent to you.
