Hello AHRA membership! For those of you that do not know me I am the chair of the AHRA Education Foundation (EF). This year, I will keep all of you informed of the happenings of the EF so you don’t miss anything. I am very pleased to share a few upcoming opportunities with you:

The Osborn scholarship is awarded annually, and it provides opportunities for AHRA members to participate in the Annual Meeting or Spring Conference. The recipient is awarded up to $1500 for the Annual Meeting and up to $1200 for the Spring Conference to support travel related expenses. The AHRA Education Foundation will also pay conference registration fees.

The 2017 Spring Conference scholarship recipient will be decided in the coming weeks – stay tuned for the announcement! If you’d like to join us in Anaheim for the 2017 Annual Meeting & Exposition, the scholarship application deadline is May 8.

Last year’s recipients were Amy Hollis, Zachary Hopkins, Jose Lopez, and Carmen Taylor! Amy attended the Spring Conference and Zachary, Jose, and Carmen were at the Annual Meeting. I know they all enjoyed it!

The CRA Exam scholarship provides opportunities for AHRA members who might not otherwise be able to afford the registration fees associated with the test to take the CRA exam. The scholarship will cover exam fees and application fees (when applicable); it will not cover late fees, change fees, or international test administration fees.

The May 2017 exam scholarship deadline is today.

Last year, Marguerite Nowitzke, Lindsey Mullen, and Daniel Neal received the CRA scholarship, took the exam, and are currently CRAs!! Congratulations to all of you!

These scholarships are just the beginning of what the EF provides for our membership. Please consider applying for a scholarship this year; it definitely is worth it! Check the AHRA website or Link’s Member Guide to 2017 Scholarships and Awards for more details.

The Annual Appeal Committee works each year to secure donations to the EF from within the AHRA membership, as well as disseminate information about what the EF does and how it benefits you. This year’s committee has been selected, and training has begun. The committee consists of 14 members: Cathy Story, Terry Bucknall, Tom Wells, Tonya Brightmon, John Beall, Zachary Hopkins, Wanda Coker, Tom Wall, Larry Leopold, Michael Connelly, Kristen Polenz, Gus Trinidad, Jory Vidulich-Savino, and of course myself. Please keep an eye out for an email from one of us; we have interesting information to share with you! We are very excited to kick off the 2017 campaign, and we’ll need all of you to help us be as successful as last year!
