Is your imaging services department ready for the next level of imaging efficiency, safety, and achievement? Differentiating your imaging department in a competitive environment as our nation’s healthcare delivery model rapidly changes can be challenging. Join us at the 2015 AHRA Annual Meeting as we walk you through our journey to becoming the first in North Carolina to receive the designation from the ACR as a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence™ (DICOE). The ACR DICOE program, which represents the pinnacle of medical imaging care, is an achievement that goes beyond accreditation to recognize best quality imaging practices and diagnostic care. Introduced in June 2013, the DICOE program requires participants to be accredited by the ACR in all modalities they provide, and in which the ACR offers an accreditation program. Another requirement is to participate in the Dose Index Registry® and General Radiology Improvement Database, at least two National Radiology Data Registry (NRDR) databases, as well as Image Wisely® and Image Gently®.
In this session we will review our year long journey, including our gap analysis, interviews with other sites who had received the designation, what our imaging services department found most challenging, and the application process. We will also recap our on-site survey process that included a team (comprised of a radiologist, a medical physicist, and an ACR senior staff member) who completed an all-day comprehensive review of governance, personnel, facility organization and management, physical environment, equipment and IT infrastructure, radiation and general safety, quality management, policies and procedures, patient rights, and medical records. Lastly, we will also cover the benefits, both direct and indirect, that our department has gained from the introspective journey and designation including marketing and access to the GRID benchmark data.
This session, ACR Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence Journey, will be held at 1:00PM on Sunday, July 19. Add this session to your schedule using the Annual Meeting app.
