It is with great anticipation that I attend the 42ndAHRA Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington, DC! The locale is fantastic, and the agenda is expansive: from information geared toward new managers, to the advanced track, Physician Track, a workshop on Lean Six Sigma and for those of us who wear many hats, the practice management track (part of the advanced track)!
Another welcome addition are the Exhibitor Symposiums: breakout sessions on such topics as patient safety, enterprise dose solutions, contrast media, and service excellence. Separate from keynote speakers and general meetings, these sessions offer information to enhance and improve service lines and reinforce the importance of strong vendor/organization relationships in order to render excellent, quality care.
And if you have not had the opportunity, the AHRA has a mobile app you can download to your phone that includes the conference schedule, convention center map, and many other features. Very cool.
The AHRA Design Team has outdone themselves: the venue is stunning with fantastic views overlooking the Potomac. You can take a short water taxi ride to Washington or Alexandria to get in a little history. In the evening, Cirque du Soleil has set up their tents in the ‘backyard,’ should you wish for more entertainment. And, to our delight, we were greeted on arrival last evening by a phenomenal fireworks show over the water!
This morning, at registration, I was warmly greeted by AHRA volunteers and provided with essential information for the sessions. Signage was clear and easy to follow; conference rooms organized and comfortable.
Speaking as a radiology administrator, the AHRA is an invaluable source of information. Whether you are a technologist looking to grow, a new manager trying to learn the ropes, an experienced leader, physician, or a practice manager – whatever your background, there is a wealth of information pertinent to quality, communication, fiscal viability, and regulatory compliance. I am appreciative of the opportunity to participate in this organization and for the opportunities the group provides. Again, the AHRA has set the stage for an excellent, informative meeting. Thank you!
