Well here we are, July already! This year is flying by! The AHRA Presidency has kept me pretty busy, and as a result, time just seems to keep moving. The Annual Meeting is almost here. Make sure you are registered to come because it is going to be an awesome show. Scott Cummins, our Annual Meeting Design Team Chair, and his Design Team have really put in a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to put together another great show. I hope to see a large turnout in DC!
At the Annual Meeting there will be a Lean Six Sigma Workshop on Sunday from 1:30-5:30, and attendees will be awarded an AHRA White Belt certificate in Lean Six Sigma methodology upon completion. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is looking to do more with less, streamline processes, or increase productivity. I know we always struggle with the ”do more with less” line, and AHRA and the Board of Directors are always looking for ways to help us achieve our goals and operate our departments efficiently – this is one of them!
The Physician Track is also on Sunday from 8:30 to 5:30. It will focus on highly effective teams inclusive of healthcare administrators and radiologists in co-leadership roles. Presentations will highlight opportunities for new physician leaders (chairs, division chiefs, medical directors) to gain skills they will need in their new roles. Additionally, industry trends and changes in the imaging space will be covered.
You can check out the Annual Meeting web page on our site to find out more specifics on the exhibitor symposiums, workshops, golf tournament, and this year’s theme party (the 1940’s!), as well as information on the various educational sessions and keynote speakers. I also wanted to remind you that the room block discount deadline is July 16th, so book your room at the Gaylord National soon!
Our 2014-2015 Board of Directors election has just closed, so I hope you casted your vote. By the time of my next Link article I should be able to tell you what decisions were made and who our new President-Elect is. This is a very exciting time as the leadership of our organization is so dependent on our next leader.
It’s also time to remind everyone of the Fall Conference, being held October 28-30 in St. Louis, Missouri! There is a currently a call for presenters out, and the deadline for that is July 7th.
I have a great CD for you to look for the next time you are at your local Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart generally has a big bin where they throw all of the CD’s they want to get rid of, and they range from $5-7. I picked this CD up for $5 and have been wearing it out in the office. If you are a Foreigner fan (which I am), then you’ll love this CD: “Foreigner, The Hits.” It is an acoustic re-working of many of their biggest hits such as Cold As Ice, Double Vision, and Jukebox Hero, but it is light enough that you can play it in the office, no heavy guitars or keyboards. The songs are stripped down, and new Foreigner front man Kelly Hansen handles the vocals so well you won’t even miss Lou Gramm’s pipes! Pick up a copy, turn it up and rock on my friends!
