January 2014—The Radiology Administration Certification Commission (RACC) is pleased to announce the results of the recent commissioner elections. Bette Drescher, CRA, has been elected to serve her first term as a commissioner on the RACC and Bruce W. Hammond, CRA, MA, has been re-elected to serve a second term.
Bette is the radiology manager at Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, WA, part of Group Health Cooperative. She has been an AHRA member since 2005 and a CRA since 2010. She has been an active proponent of the CRA in the Northwest region and previously served on the 2012 RACC Nominations Committee as the non-RACC member. As Bette explains about volunteering on that committee, “it piqued my interest in becoming more involved with the RACC, and I believe [being an RACC commissioner] may be a perfect opportunity for me to contribute to an organization that has provided me with such encouragement and guidance over the years.”
Bruce is President/CEO of Diagnostic Health Services in Fort Worth, TX, a national outsource provider of imaging services in hospital based and clinic based settings. He began his first term on the RACC in January 2011 and has been an active member of the RACC Role Delineation committee; the 2011 and 2012 RACC Nominations Committees (including serving as committee chair in 2012); and has taken an active role in CRA exam item writing and cut score work. Bruce is a frequent speaker at AHRA meetings, is a member of the Radiology Management editorial review board, and was contributing author for 2 chapters of the AHRA textbook “Financial Management in Radiology,” second edition. Bruce looks forward to continuing his work on the RACC, “to enhance the credential’s acceptance, improve the testing and increase the marketing to expand acceptability, and further the credential as the only accepted proof of competency in radiology administration.”
The RACC also wishes to publically thank outgoing RACC commissioner, Ron J. Barak, BHS, CRA, FAHRA, MBA, for his years of service working on behalf of all CRAs and the CRA credential. Ron is senior director of imaging services at MercyHospital in Miami, FL. Ron was elected to the commission in 2011 and has been an active and dedicated proponent of the CRA in his time on the commission. The RACC is grateful to Ron for the time, energy, and many talents he has given to the CRA credential as a volunteer leader.
The RACC is also pleased to announce that Sheryl M. Jackson has been appointed to serve a three year term as the RACC’s Public Commissioner.
Sheryl is Administrator, Communities of Practice and Knowledge Manager for Carlisle & Gallagher Consulting Group in Dallas, TX. She brings to the RACC a wealth of experience in development, planning, and solution architecture, particularly in the healthcare environment.
Sheryl will replace outgoing Public Commissioner Benjamin G. M. Feril who has served on the commission since 2011.
