New RACC Public Member Appointed

December 2011—The Radiology Administration Certification Commission (RACC) is pleased to announce that Capt. Benjamin G. M. Feril, MSC, USN has been appointed to serve a three year term beginning January 1, 2012 as the RACC’s Public Commissioner.

Captain Feril, a member of the United States Navy, is currently serving in Bethesda, MD as Director for the Joint Medical Planners Course (JMPC) for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, J-4/Health Services Support Directorate. JMPC provides joint operational planning training to the U.S. military, U.S. Government interagency health care officials, and NATO personnel and is designed to prepare students to effectively function as medical planners on the Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, Component Headquarters of Combatant Commands, Joint Task Forces, Combined Staffs, and Service Headquarters.

Feril is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Military and Emergency Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, is a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) with the International Association of Emergency Planners (IAEM), and a Fellow of the American Academy of Medical Administrators (FAAMA).  Captain Feril’s personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Metal, four Meritorious Service Medals, two Joint Service Commendation Medals, and two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.

Captain Feril will replace outgoing Public Commissioner Phyllis Butterworth who has served on the commission since 2009.
