Organizational accountability for clinical outcomes creates an inherent accountability for clinical processes. Managers must avoid the trap of believing that major investments in IT will ensure high levels of performance. What changes in organizational design are necessary to enable healthcare organizations to achieve greater efficiency with cost cutting measures in place?
