What Would You Do?

November 2010–Every month, we post an industry and management related situation to you, our members. You are then encouraged to share your thoughts on how you would resolve the issue.  Be sure to check out others’ responses and join the discussion.

This month’s question relates to National Radiologic Technologist Week (aka Tech Week):

Tech Week 2010 begins Monday, November 8 and concludes Friday, November 12.  If yours is one of the many facilities that has had to cut costs this year, how do you observe Tech Week with little to no budget?

  1. This year instead of doing big lunches, I am going to do smaller treats everyday. Donuts, DQ Blizzards, Starbucks, Cold Stone and whatever else I can think of.

  2. We kick off the week with an all day seminar the Saturday before. Speakers donate their time & vendors also supply speakers. Minimal charge to outside Technologists cover the costs. (7 credits for $20.00 with lunch included) During the week we have breakfast & lunch sponsored by vendors & Radiologists & management.

  3. The staff takes a “fun facts” quiz and the winner gets a day off with pay that I donated.

  4. Our wonderful radiologists are providing a pizza lunch one day and we got permission to give a small recognition gift.
